We believe we have created a new style of performance we like to call “Slapstick Magic”
Scott is a character who is trying really hard to be a classical magician. But he’s a bit clumsy (and not too intelligent!) and so nothing he tries to do goes according to plan.
Muriel is one of the few great women clowns in the world. Her character is that of a naive, much-too-eager assistant who often pays the price when Scott’s tricks go wrong.
And although amazing magic does happen, it’s never what our characters (nor the audience!) expects...
A Brand New Style...
We have since travelled the world delighting audiences wherever we go. We have performed in over 24 countries so far, both live and on television. Some of the more famous companies we’ve worked for include Cirque du Soleil, the Just for Laughs Festival, the Greek Isles Casino in Las Vegas, and the International Circus Festival of Monte Carlo.
(In Monte Carlo we received Two Special Prizes and a Standing Ovation from an audience which included their Royal Highnesses Princess Stephanie and Prince Albert of Monaco.)
Hello! We are Scott & Muriel, the Accidental Illusionists.
What’s an Accidental Illusionist? It’s an illusionist that doesn’t take himself - or herself - too seriously!
And while it may look like everything in our show is happening by accident - it isn’t! Everything is carefully planned out and constructed in order to create the perfect illusion of a hilarious disaster.
We believe that surprising people, making them laugh, and then amazing them with some incredible magic, is a terrific recipe for making people happy.
In real life we are Muriel Brugman of the Netherlands, and Scott Nelson, originally from California (but now a Dutch citizen as well!)
Our shows consist of original illusions that we created ourselves, combined with hysterical non-verbal comedy.
We began working together in 1999. One year later we travelled to Lisbon, Portugal, to compete in the World Championships of Magic. Out of 140 entries from around the world, ours was judged to be the very best act, and were awarded the prestigious Grand Prix. And so we became the first comedy duo in history to win the title:

•We believe that a singer singing a song he or she wrote themself performs it much better than anyone else. This is why we spent many years - and many hundreds of thousands of Euros - creating all the illusions we perform in our shows ourselves. You won’t see them anywhere else!
